UPDATED: Suspect Named In Death Of Windsor Mom

Windsor police have released the name and charges laid in connection with the death of a Windsor mom.

The 27-year-old suspect was arrested Friday, August 17, 2018 in Washington State.

Jitesh Bhogal is a Canadian man who has been living in Michigan and is now charged with first-degree murder, aggravated sexual assault and break and enter.

Taggart, who was also known as Maya Madolyn, was killed in June at an apartment building on University Avenue West near McKay Avenue.

The 31-year-old died of blunt force trauma.

Windsor Police Sergeant Steve Betteridge says the focus now is to bring the suspect back to Windsor to answer to the charges.

"It can be a complicated process, the wheels of justice sometimes can move slowly but that is to make sure there aren't any errors and everyone has their legal rights," he says.

Sergeant Betteridge credits great police work on both sides of the border for the arrest.

"No doubt complicated and on the flip side of that, team work and what that is, is law enforcement officers , obviously we have to consider borders with laws and legalities."
