Tecumseh Wrestler Joins Select Company

Tecumseh's Linda Morais is coming home with gold from the world wrestling championships in Kazakhstan.

The 26-year-old defeated her Russian opponent in the 59-kilogram division final Thursday.

Morais trailed 6-1 early in the gold medal match, but she was able to rally after her coach, David Zilberman, shouted that if was okay and there was plenty of time left.

The two-time world university champion battled back to get the pin.

Morais becomes the 5th Canadian wrestler in history to win a world title.

She won a bronze at the world championships in 2016.
