Tentative Deal Reached At Flex-N-Gate

Strike averted at Flex-n-Gate.

Unifor Local 195 and the employer reached a tentative deal Tuesday afternoon after resuming talks early in the morning.

The workers voted 99% in favour of strike action and were set to walk off the job at 12:01am Thursday.

Local 195 President Gerry Farnham says both sides like the agreement.

"We're glad that we're able to do this without creating a work stoppage which we don't believe helps either side. So we're glad to get that done," says Farnham. "The bargaining committee certainly is happy about the agreement and they're recommending endorsement of the collective agreement."

A ratification vote takes place this Friday at 12:30pm at the Unior Local 195 union hall.

Unifor represents 200 employees at the plant on Patillo Rd.

A strike would have shut down the Windsor Assembly Plant, as the workers make the floor rails for the Chrysler minivan.
