Tigers PA Announcer Dies
The Detroit Tigers organization are mourning the loss of the team's public address announcer.
The family of Jay Allen announced on Friday that he died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at the age of 60.
His family announced in August that he had stage four bile duct cancer that had spread to other parts of his body, and they said Wednesday that he was in kidney failure.
The Grand Rapids native started with the Tigers last year after serving as the announcer for the West Michigan Whitecaps.
