CKTB - NEWS - Baseball

The Ontario senior elimination baseball tournament is being held this weekend in Windsor-Essex.

22 teams are in the area vying for a chance to qualify for the Canadian championship tournament later this month in Victoria B.C.

The Windsor Stars, which captured the Can-Am Baseball League Championship, is the host team for this tournament.

Organizer Bernie Soulliere says the Stars will be one to watch.

"They had about a 23-and-1 season. They've also won the Vaughn tournament and were undefeated at the Hap Emms Tournament in St. Catherine's a couple of weeks back," says Soulliere.

The Tecumseh Thunder have won the title four years in a row.

The games are being held in Tecumseh, Woodslee, Amherstburg and in Windsor at Cullen & Soulliere Fields.

There are 43 games in the tournament with the championship game expected at about 1:30pm Monday afternoon at Cullen Field.
