Town Hall Meeting Set To Discuss Trade

Unifor is inviting community to a 'People's Trade' Town Hall.

Local's 200 and 444 are hosting the event and is the fifth event organized across the country to document the ideas and experiences of residents and trade deals.

Local 444 President Dave Cassidy says the findings of the meeting will be used to create a summary report that will be submitted to the federal government.

He tells CTV News, the recent tariffs imposed by the U.S., European Union and Canada impact everyone.

"It's pharmacy, it's pharmaceuticals, softwood lumber, it's the aluminium, it's the steel, it's dairy," says Cassidy.  "There's so many issues around the trade deals that they're doing in the different countries."

He says everyone is invited.

"We've invited a lot of community partners, United Way, different Credit Unions, different community partners that reap benefits of manufacturing," says Cassidy.

Essex MP and International Trade Critic Tracey Ramsey will be at the event as a guest speaker.

The town hall will take place on Wednesday from 5pm-7pm at the union hall at 1855 Turner Rd. in Windsor.
