Transit Windsor Adds New Voice Technology
Transit Windsor has begun testing new technology onboard some of its buses.
10 buses are outfitted with voice announcements about upcoming stops and the bus route.
It is the first of several technology changes to make it a more efficient, safer and more user-friendly system.
Transit Windsor Executive Director Pat Delmore says this will make it a more comfortable ride for some people.
"It is also a great feature for people who don't use transit all the time, maybe unfamiliar with a certain area of the city and especially for people who are visiting our community as well," says Delmore.
The technology has been added in the past few days and Delmore says so far, the response has been good.
He expects all 112 buses will be equipped with the technology by early spring.
Real Time Information will also be introduced to allow someone at a bus stop to find out when the next bus will arrive via text, calling Transit Windsor, or through a web portal.
The budget for the upgraded technology is about $3-million.
