Unifor Ready for Auto Talks with the Detroit Three

The National President of Unifor highlighted the looming auto talks at the opening of the union's National Congress in Quebec City.

During an impassioned speech to the delegates Jerry Dias pointed out the auto sector is starting to slow down.

He says the decline in sales is already having an impact.

"We're seeing the impact on this on our members right now in places like Windsor, Essex, Oakville, Brampton and St. Catharines," says Dias.  "We are in stormy waters."

Dias says the union isn't going to let the members down.

"I will tell you despite any slow down or challenges, we're coming in very hard, very aggressive in this round of talks because our members frankly deserve nothing less and expect nothing less," says Dias.

Dias pointed out there will also be negotiations between Unifor and the University of Windsor in the coming year.
