VIDEO: New Skills Lab at Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex is celebrating the launch of its newest partnership.

Thanks to a $60,000 donation from the Caesars Windsor Cares program, a new skills lab is now open at the re-store located on Edinborough St. in Windsor.

Habitat Executive Director Fiona Coughlin says they'll be partnering with community programs and groups to offer different workshops.

"Not only to our homeowners but to volunteers and community members who want to learn more in the areas of skilled trades, retail, customer service, and home care and maintenance," says Coughlin."

Coughlin adds costs of the programs will remain minimal if at all.

"Depending on the partner and what they set up, they may have a particular cost for their courses but we open the facility to any community group or any non-profit that wants to be able to use the facility, they have have to contact me and we can make arrangements to they have a space to offer their training," says Coughlin.

The goal of the skills lab is to help Habitat for Humanity homeowners and other community members learn skills required to succeed in their homes and build a life for themselves and their families.

The $60,000 donation will be spread over a three-year period.

Information on different workshops taking place will be made available through the Habitat for Humanity website and Facebook page.
