VIDEO: Six Spitfires Off to NHL Training Camps
Several Windsor Spitfires are leaving Wednesday to attend NHL training camps, but head coach Trevor Letowski won't have to worry about filling their spots, as the Spits aren't back in action until next Wednesday when they host Flint in exhibition action.
Cole Purboo who lead the club in goals last season got a invitation from the Chicago Blackhawks.
Egor Afanasyev, a second round NHL draft pick, will head to Nashville, while Tyler Angle and Louka Henault will go to Columbus.
Curtis Douglas goes to the Dallas camp and Connor Corcoran, a Vegas draft pick, will report to their camp in California.
Corcoran tells AM800 Sports he hopes to learn from the pros and bring that knowledge back to Windsor.
"It's my second time going, so it's not going to be really new to me, but it's still going to be a great experience. I'm going to learn a lot and hopefully I can bring it back here."
Corcoran also feels the Spitfires should have a good club this season.
"Especially after our last exhibition game against Niagara and seeing the new additions we have, we're looking really fast so I'm excited to be a part of this team this year."
The Spits first regular season game is Saturday, September 21 at the WFCU Centre against Peterborough.
