Virtual Meeting for Wards One and 10 Gets Underway Tuesday

Ward 1 Councillor Fred Francis expects flooding, policing and the city budget to be front and centre at Tuesday night's virtual ward meeting.

Francis will be joined by Ward 10 Councillor Jim Morrison to interact with residents by phone to ensure physical distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It's disappointing that he can't meet with residents in person, but Francis thinks they appreciate the city is doing something.

"You can't be in the same room, but you can still listen and provide information and real solutions to overcome those challenges," he says.

Francis says both wards have some distinct issues, but share far more in common.

"There are a lot of matters to discuss, everything from flooding to infrastructure to taxes, crime and police matters," says Francis. "I'm looking forward to a pretty comprehensive discussion on a variety of topics."

He expects some discussion on how COVID-19 has affected city finances.

"We've worked very hard over the past six years I've been on council and years before that to get Windsor's financial house in order," he says. "People want to make sure we continue to do so."

The meeting gets underway tonight at 6:30 p.m.
