The 3rd annual Windsor Pride Fest auction starts Monday, running until Dec. 11.

Windsor-Essex Pride Fest is a non-profit organization run by a volunteer Board of Directors that delivers safe, inclusive events, programs, and initiatives accessible to all members of the Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual (2SLGBTQIA+), their family, caregivers, allies and friend and seeks to strengthen and contribute to the health, resilience and overall well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals in Windsor-Essex.

Wendi Nicholson, President, Windsor Essex Pride Fest says auction items range from gift certificates to gift baskets and handmade items from businesses across the region.

"I went out to Kingsville, Colchester, Harrow, Amherstburg, LaSalle, all over Windsor. Everybody is so gracious in their donations."

Items won in the auction would be available for pickup or drop off prior to Christmas, making auction items an excellent holiday gift idea.

Nicholson says Windsor Pride works with everyone from youth to seniors in the community providing them support.

She says the money from the auction is used towards those programs and services until the next Pride Fest rolls around in August.

"Whatever we need for our programs, whether it's a facilitator, event space, art and crafts stuff. It's pays for all of that. Just to keep the doors open so we can have the community to come in and have a safe space."

Nicholson says over $4,000 was raised during the 2022 auction.

"We would like to beat last years $4,000, but we are very gracious and thankful for everyone who bids on items and everybody who has donated the items. We're just thankful that the community comes together and we can have this auction and keep our doors open."

Windsor Essex Pride Fest advocates on behalf of Windsor-Essex to safeguard the rights of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, ward against discrimination and foster a community of inclusion and engagement for all of its citizens.
