Windsor Man Facing 20 Charges After a String of Convenience Store Robberies

Windsor police say 35-year-old Richard Johnson of Windsor is charged with 20 criminal offences following a string of convenience store robberies in the city.

As heard on AM800 news on Thursday, the robberies occurred at three different stores on Wednesday between 6:56am and 7:53am on Tecumseh Rd. E, Walker Rd., and Ottawa St.

Police say the suspect entered the stores with his face covered and armed with what appeared to be a handgun.

Police say no serious injuries occurred and the suspect was located a short time after the robberies.

He was arrested without incident.

Johnson is charged with multiple counts of robbery, firearm related offences and concealing his face with the intention to commit an offence.

Police say "the accused must now answer in a court of law as to why he put members of our community at risk."
