Windsor Police Charge Two Men After Stolen Vehicle Fire

Two Windsor men are facing a list of charges after stealing a vehicle and setting it on fire.

Windsor police say officers responded to a call in the area of Walker Rd. and Grand Marais Rd E. around 8:30 on Sunday morning.

Police believe the incident may be related to a previous call where a stolen vehicle was said to be heading to Windsor from another jurisdiction.

When officers arrived, fire fighters were putting out the blaze to a black Dodge Ram and police were able to confirm it was the stolen vehicle in question and determined the fire to be an arson.

Police say two individuals were seen running from the area so the K9 unit was called in to assist and tracked a location in the 2900 block of Walker Rd.

The investigation found that the suspects went to a business in the stolen vehicle prior to the fire, officers viewed surveillance footage and quickly identified the two male suspects.

They were arrested early Sunday afternoon without incident in the 1200 block of Monmouth Rd.

A 33-year-old and a 38-year-old both from Windsor have been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, occupy auto without consent, possess stolen property under $5,000, arson and possess incendiary material for arson.
