Windsor Police Credit Citizen for Recent Arrest

Windsor police are giving the assist on a recent arrest to a concerned citizen.

Officers were called to the 1200 block of Monmouth Rd. near Ontario St. for a report of a man attempting to break open a safe around 12pm Wednesday afternoon.

Police arrived to find a man trying to open the safe with a concrete saw while two other men stood by to assist with a crowbar, a drill and an axe.

According to police, the safe, a number of the tools, and a security system had recently been reported stolen from a business in the town of Essex.

The 33 and 35-year-old men, both from Windsor, were arrested on scene and face several charges including possession of stolen property and possession of break and enter tools.

A third man fled the scene, but has been identified and is being sought by Windsor police.
