Rotary Club's Burger Battle back for a second year

The Burger Battle is back!

For the second year, 12 locally owned restaurants will go head to head for the title of 'Best Burger Windsor-Essex' decided by the public.

Last year's winner, Walkerville Eatery have returned to defend their title, joining six new restaurants.

The contest was developed by the Windsor-Roseland Rotary Club to raise funds for the club and local charities.

Ann Hetherington, Chair, Burger Battle, Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland says the passports are $20 each and are on sale now.

"With a passport you can go into any one of our 12 restaurants that are participating and you get a two for one burger and fries meal. So it's an awesome deal. For $20, you'll save that in the first meal that you have at the restaurant of your choice, and when you go into that restaurant we then ask you to vote for your favourite burger."

She says passports can be purchased online and from participating restaurants.

"And we have three locations out in the community that are also sellling passports for us. What's Poppin Popcorn Factory, 1701 Wyandotte East, Belle River Diagnostic Imaging Centre, 1679 County Rd. 22, Belle River, and The Farm House Market, 7601 Middle Side Road, Amherstburg."

Hetherington says proceeds from this fundraiser will be part of the Rotary Club's Annual Giving program.

"And this money is pooled together with our funds from our Wines of the World and our Lobsterfest event and we support charities within our community and around the world with those funds."

Hetherington says only 1,000 passports were printed and a third of which have already sold.

The Battle will run from Jan. 2 to Mar. 29, 2024.
