Emergency Room closures in Colchester and Cumberland County: August 25-31

The province has released the schedule of closures for the emergency rooms in Tatamagouche, Pugwash, Springhill and Parrsboro for this week.

The Nova Scotia Health Authority says the emergency department at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital will be shut down on the following dates and times:
- Sunday August 25: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (4 hours only)
- Friday August 30: 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (5 hours only)
- Saturday August 31: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In Pugwash, the emergency room at the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital will be closed for the following periods of time:
- Sunday August 25: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Wednesday August 28: 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Friday August 30: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday August 31: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The province says the emergency department at All Saints Springhill Collaborative Emergency Centre will be shut down as follows:
- Sunday August 25: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Monday August 26: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Wednesday August 28: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (4 hours)
- Thursday August 29: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday August 31: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

In Parrsboro, the emergency room at the South Cumberland Community Care Centre Collaborative Emergency Centre is closed on the following dates and times:
- Sunday August 25: 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Monday August 26: 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The province says the closures are due to a lack of physician coverage, but adds the ERs will all be available during the overnight hours.

Overnight coverage will be provided by the paramedic, registered nurse, oversight physician team.
