The province says the Heating Assistance Rebate Program (HARP) is now available.

Applications for the program, which provides a rebate of up to $200 to low income Nova Scotians who pay for their own heat, are now open for the 2019-20 heating season.

This year, those applying for the Property Tax Rebate Program for Low Income Seniors can choose to be automatically considered for HARP.

A release says applicants can apply online, and can register with the Canada Revenue Agency to receive their rebate via direct deposit.

The income threshold to qualify for HARP is $29,000 for one-person households and $44,000 for households with more than one person.

The program runs until March 31, 2020.
