The Canadian Red Cross says a 120-year-old house in Stellarton has been destroyed by fire.

Two people, an elderly man and his adult son, were displaced by the blaze and are staying with a friend for now.

The fire was reported around 8 p.m. on Friday on Rutherford Street Extension.

The men were briefly away from the house, so there were no injuries.

The Red Cross says their volunteers have been helping the pair with emergency purchases like clothing and food.
