Contract awarded to demolish former CBC building ahead of Halifax Infirmary expansion
A Halifax company has been awarded the contract to demolish the old Halifax CBC building on Bell Road.
The contract awarded to Asbestos Abatement Ltd. is worth $1.38 million.
The province bought the former CBC building in 2017 so it could be torn down to make room for an expansion of the Halifax Infirmary site.
The expansion is part of the QEII redevelopment plan and will include a new outpatient centre, new cancer centre, operating rooms, hospital beds and a new research, innovation and learning centre.
The work will allow services to be moved out of the aging Centennial, Victoria and Dickson buildings on the Victoria General site, which will eventually close.
