Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA)

The Nova Scotia Health Authority has issued the following schedule of closures to emergency rooms in Colchester and Cumberland County for this week.

The government says the ER in Pugwash at the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital will be closed on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., while the ER in Springhill will be closed for the same hours on Wednesday only.

According to the province, the emergency department at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital in Tatamagouche will be closed on Friday September 13 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In Parrsboro, the Nova Scotia Health Authority will close the ER daily from Sunday to Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

In a release, the province says the closures are due to a lack of doctors.

All four emergency departments are available during the overnight hours, regardless of a daytime closure, with coverage provided by the paramedic, registered nurse, oversight physician team.

Anyone experiencing a medical emergency should call 911 while general health concerns can be directed to HealthLink 811.
