Freezing rain warning for Nova Scotia Sunday
Environment Canada says some areas can expect to see between 5 and 15 hours of freezing to fall throughout the day today.
A Freezing Rain Warning has been issued for much of Nova Scotia, including Colchester, Cumberland, Pictou and Hants Counties.
Forecasters say rain will change to freezing rain or ice pellets over much of the province this morning and will end this evening, bringing significant ice build.
The weather agency warns surfaces like highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become slippery when they ice over.
Nova Scotia Power has activated its Emergency Operations Centre.
The utility says it has crews on standby to get the power back on as quickly as possible in the event of any interruptions, however power will only be restored when it is safe for crews to do so.
