Halifax police officer cleared of sexual assault allegation
A Halifax Regional Police (HRP) officer has been cleared of a sexual assault allegation by the province's Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT).
SiRT was contacted February 22nd, 2018 by the HRP/RCMP Integrated Sexual Assault Unit after a brief conversation with a woman concerning an alleged sexual assault.
The male officer and the woman were known to each other.
SiRT interviewed both parties, reviewed text messages exchanged between them, and reviewed the reports of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.
The investigation determined that all sexual encounters between the pair were consensual.
SiRT says, as a result, there are no reasonable or probable grounds to conclude the officer sexually assaulted the woman and there are no grounds to lay charges against him.
