Halifax MP Geoff Regan says he won't be running in the next federal election.

The member of Parliament for Halifax West says it's time to call it quits after 24 years.

The Liberal and former Speaker of the House of Commons was first elected in 1993.

He won eight elections, though he was defeated in the 1997 election.
