The Nova Scotia Department of Labour is investigating after a construction worker in Bedford was impaled on a metal reinforcement bar.

The owner of Kivotos Developments says the 37-year-old man slipped from the ice on the top floor of a development Monday afternoon and fell onto uncapped rebar.

He says the worker was taken to hospital for treatment and released Monday night.

The Labour Department says it can't disclose the worker's medical condition but says an investigation is under way.
