Man charged with attempted murder after two incidents near Digby


A man is facing a charge of attempted murder after two separate incidents near Digby over the weekend.

A release states on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., one man threatened to run another man down with a vehicle in the driveway of a home in Conway.

RCMP says the man then struck the victim with his vehicle, but the victim was not hurt.

Police say they were not told of the incident until the next day, when the two men were in a coffee shop parking lot in Digby around 10:00 a.m.

The release states the accused punched the victim following a confrontation.

RCMP say they located and arrested the accused a short time later, seized his vehicle as evidence and will be obtaining a search warrant for the vehicle.

69-year-old Emerson Simon Hersey of Digby has been charged with Attempted Murder, Assault with a Weapon, Assault, two counts of Uttering Threats and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Police say they have spoken to some witnesses, but are asking for anyone else who witnessed either incident to contact them at 902-245-2579.
