The provincial government is organizing a conference aimed ta bringing different agriculture businesses together.

A release says the first Agriculture Minister's Conference will be held in Halifax on March 3 and 4, 2020.

The Department of Agriculture says the event will appeal to farmers, food processors, wholesale and retail food companies, restaurant owners, chef's equipment suppliers, farming and processing equipment manufacturers, the wine, spirits and brewing industries and more.

"Working in agriculture-related sectors can be very exciting but also challenging in a changing world market, with changing consumer preferences, the impacts of climate change and new ways people buy and prepare their food," said Agriculture Minister Keith Colwell. "Together with industry we will hear from leading experts and discuss ways to address these challenges, new ways to make it easier for consumers to recognize and purchase locally grown products and build on the global reputation of Nova Scotia-grown and produced food and drink."

The conference, which has a theme of "Farming for the Future - Thriving in a Changing World" will offer producers the opportunity to network with local, national and international speakers who will address key issues and opportunities in agriculture.
