Nova Scotia RCMP officer facing six charges related to child pornography

An RCMP officer in Nova Scotia is facing charges of possession and distribution of child pornography.

Felix Cacchione, director of Nova Scotia's Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT), said Monday Const. Jeffrey Hirsch is facing one count of possession and five counts of distribution of child pornography.

Hirsch is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater provincial court Aug. 12.

He is a member of the RCMP's Southwest Nova District.

The RCMP was initially conducting an investigation in relation to child pornography and contacted SiRT March 3.

SiRT, the agency that investigates all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia, started its probe March 11, when it said additional information became available.
