Province awards grants to 80 first responder organizations

Twelve local organizations are among 80 receiving Emergency Services Provider Fund grants from the province.

The Emergency Services Provider Fund offers financial assistance to fire departments and ground search and rescue organizations, including HAZMAT, to upgrade equipment that is used directly in response to a fire or emergency.

The local fire departments and organizations receiving grants are:

Barney's River Fire Department - $20,000.00
Gore District Volunteer Fire Department - $20,000.00
Lantz Volunteer Fire Department - $15,690.84
Little Harbour Fire Department - $20,000.00
Noel & District Volunteer Fire Department - $9,775.50
Onslow - Belmont Fire Brigade - $20,000.00
River John Fire Department - $20,000.00
Salmon River Fire Brigade - $19,604.63
Special Hazards Response Unit - Bible Hill $20,000.00
Trenton Fire Department - $20,000.00
Valley Kemptown and District Fire Brigade - $20,000.00
Westville Fire and Rescue Department - $20,000.00

The province has awarded a total of $1.4 million in grants for the 2019-20 budget year.
