Province offers online dispute resolution for family legal matters
Nova Scotians can now resolve family legal issues online using the eCourt pilot program.
The Department of Justice says eCourt is an alternative to the in-person court process and will be used to solve simple family legal issues.
The program is the first of its kind in Canada and allows for the virtual filing and exchange of court documents, online conferencing, and realtime exchanges between lawyers and a judge.
The pilot is being launched with judges of the Unified Family Court in Halifax and there are plans to expand to other areas in the future.
