RCMP seize loaded handgun from vehicle in Brookfield

A 25-year-old man from Hammonds Plains is facing numerous charges after a two-vehicle collision in Brookfield that led to the discovery of a loaded handgun.

Colchester District RCMP responded to a 911 call at 10:55 p.m. on Wednesday after the collision in a service station parking lot.

Police say the drivers got out of their vehicles and began yelling at one another, with a third man arriving at the scene with a handgun.

The armed man fled with one of the drivers once police were called, but RCMP located and arrested them at a home in Brookfield a short time later.

Officers searched Micheal Joseph Hennigar and seized five knives, brass knuckles, and a loaded .40 calibre handgun.

They also located additional .40 calibre ammunition, a shotgun round, and what is believed to be cocaine.
