Scott Brison named as Dal's eighth chancellor beginning next year
Former Kings-Hants MP Scott Brison has been named the eighth chancellor at Dalhousie University.
Brison earned a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Dalhousie University in 1989.
He was first elected to Parliament in 1997 and resigned this past February.
Currently, Brison is the Vice-Chair of Investment and Corporate Banking with BMO Capital Markets, based in Toronto.
Candace Thomas, chair Dalhousie Board of Governor, says, "The role of chancellor is both a ceremonial and an ambassadorial one: advocating for the university across the region, country, and as available, globally; serving as a member of Dalhousie's Board of Governors; and overseeing spring and fall convocation ceremonies."
Anne McLellan is the current chancellor, whose term will end in May.
Brison will be officially installed as part of the spring convocation next year, serving for a three year term.
