TCCoC hosting tonight's Cumberland Colchester candidates' debate
The Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce (TCCoC) is hosting a debate for candidates in the federal riding of Cumberland-Colchester.
Wednesday's debate will be held at the Dal AC's Cumming Hall at 6 p.m. and is open to the public.
The debate will include William (Bill) Archer of the People's Party of Canada, Conservative Scott Armstrong, Jason Blanch of the Green Party, New Democrat Larry Duchesne, and Liberal Lenore Zann.
There are three other confirmed candidates running in Cumberland-Colchester; NCA leader Stephen Garvey, Jody O'Blenis of the Veterans Coalition Party of Canada and independent Matthew V. Rushton. They were not invited to take part.
The Chamber’s Election Activities policy outlines the following criteria for participation in its federal election debate: have at least one MP elected under the party’s banner; and at least one of the two following items, intend to run candidates in at least 90 per cent of the country’s ridings or have captured at least four per cent of the votes in the previous election.
Election day is October 21.
