Three charged in Halifax area convenience store robberies


Halifax Regional Police have charged two men and a woman in relation to a series of convenience store robberies that occurred earlier this year.

Around 8:45 p.m. March 23, officers responded to a report of a robbery at Leonard's Convenience at 95 Caledonia Road in Dartmouth.

A release states staff reported two men, both wearing masks and one armed with a hammer, entered the store and demanded money and cigarettes before fleeing with cash and cigarettes.

Police say they responded around 7:45 p.m. April 10 to a report of a robbery at the Irving at 200 Waverley Road in Dartmouth.

The release says a man entered the store, threatened an employee with a knife and demanded money before fleeing with cash and cigarettes.

At around 9:10 p.m. April 11, officers responded to report of a robbery at a second Irving, at 1075 St. Margaret's Bay Road in Beechville.

Police say a man entered the store and threatened a member of staff with a knife before demanding money and fleeing with cash and cigarettes.

Halifax Regional Police say two men and a woman were arrested on May 14 in Halifax in connection to these incidents.

The release states a 30-year-old Halifax man is facing one count of robbery, two counts of robbery with an offensive weapon and three counts of disguise with intent connected to all three robberies.

A 38-year-old man and 34-year-old woman, both from Halifax, are each facing a count of robbery in relation to the incident on April 11.

Halifax Regional Police say all three are scheduled to appear in court in September.
