The Town of Truro will light up Town Hall, the Library and Police Station in blue this weekend as a part of Operation Bluenose.

A post on the Town of Truro Facebook page says Operation Bluenose is a three-night virtual vigil held across Nova Scotia to coincide with the first sailing weekend of the Bluenose II on July 24th, 25th and 26th.

The town says the vigil is a tribute to Nova Scotia's legacy of perseverance and capacity to overcome adversity, while also honouring all lives that have been lost within the province in 2020.

Other iconic places across the province that will be illuminated in blue this weekend include the Halifax Armouries on the Common, Government House, Halifax City Hall, Citadel Hill, Peggy's Cove and the sails of the Bluenose II itself.

Anyone can participate in the virtual vigil by lighting up their homes or businesses and by sharing their thoughts and images on social media using #OperationBluenose.
