Two arrested in Amherst drug trafficking investigation


Two people from Amherst are facing drug trafficking related charges after a search in the community last week.

During the search of the West Victoria Street home, officers seized numerous drugs including crystal methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as a sensory irritant canister and a taser. 

A man and woman from Amherst were arrested at the scene and police say the 31-year-old woman was released the next day and is due in court in January to face five charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

RCMP say 32-year-old Brent Robert Cameron was held in custody and was due in court Tuesday morning to face eight charges including five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession of a restricted weapon.

The investigation is ongoing.
