Woman dies in collision on Highway 12 in Aldersville

The RCMP say a woman from Kentville is dead after a crash on Highway 12 in Aldersville on November 2.

A release says a collision between two vehicles occurred shortly before 4:00 p.m. Saturday when the driver of a Chrysler sedan attempted to pass other vehicles and struck an oncoming Volkswagen.

Police say there were two people in the Volkswagen, with the driver taken to hospital via LifeFLight after sustaining serious injuries.

RCMP say the passenger, a 71-year-old woman from Kentville died at the scene.

The driver of the Chrysler, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken to hospital with injuries.

Police say an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist was called to the scene to examine it for evidence, which resulted in the closure of Highway 12 for several hours before re-opening at 11:00 p.m.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
