YMCA Pool at the Pictou County Wellness Centre closed 4-6 weeks
The YMCA Pool at the Pictou County Wellness Centre has been temporarily closed due to a recent mechanical problem that exposed some equipment to water.
The facility and pool were forced to close October 1st as the issue ultimately lead to water entering the control area of the pool.
A statement on behalf of the Board of Directors says the affected equipment had to be decommissioned until it was safe to restore power.
The facility has been working with suppliers and industry technicians to assess the damage and create and action plan to restore the equipment needed to reopen the pool.
The statement says it will be at least another 4-6 weeks before everything is back up and running.
The facility says they're looking to resolve the issue permanently so this situation does not occur again.
In addition, Staring November 1st, the YMCA will be relocating some of their aquatic programming to the Pictou County Pool.
YMCA members will be able to access programming at the Pictou Fisheries Training Pool through their current memberships at no additional cost, with more details to follow.
