With cities like Ottawa and Kingston seeing new COVID-19 cases linked to gatherings, along with many others across the province, the Brockville-area's top doctor asks residents to keep a lid on parties and be careful.

Dr. Paula Stewart, Medical Officer of Health for Leeds, Grenville and Lanark calls the reports unsettling and said its' important to maintain physical distancing with those outside your own social circle at all times.

"I think there's a sense that 'oh, we can have up to 50 people now and we can mill around,' but the experience in Ottawa shows you just can't," Stewart said.

"So you can still have people coming together, a small group, you have way more control over the six feet if you have fewer people there."

Stewart said one outbreak can easily lead to more restrictions being re-imposed on the area, which would be devestating for both residents and businesses.
