Chetwynd hosts chainsaw carving championship

The sawdust and wood chips flew at the Chetwynd International Chainsaw Carving Championship this weekend.

Carvers from across the world competed, but American Abby Peterson was the stand out.

Peterson’s ‘Larger than Life’ elk carving won the top prize from the judges. He was also a fan favourite and took home the Peoples Choice award.

In second place was Canada’s Ryan Villier’s who turned wood into water with his wave carving. 

Takao Hayashi of Japan rounded out the podium with his ‘Twelve Monkeys’ piece.  

Meanwhile, the Carver’s Choice award went to Matthew Crabb who created a wooden fairy tail sculpture.
