Inquest into death of Chantel Moore set for February in Edmundston
The inquest into the death of Chantel Moore will begin on February 22, 2022 at the Edmundston Convention Centre.
A release states presiding coroner Steve Gibson and a jury will publicly hear evidence from witnesses to determine the facts of the surrounding Moore's death at the hearing, which is expected to last between four and six days.
The jury will then make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances in the future, but will not assign blame or make any finding of legal responsibility.
Government says the inquest will be conducted in French, and jury selection will begin on the morning of the first day.
Moore died on June 4th, 2020 outside her residence during an intervention by a member of the Edmundston Police Force.
