Two Fredericton-area athletes named N.B. flag bearers for Canada Games

Nineteen-year old Vivian Kutnowski of Fredericton and 26-year old Jesse Canney of Durham Bridge will be Team New Brunswick's flag-bearers for the opening ceremony of the Canada Summer Games tonight in Niagara, Ontario.

Kutnowski is a member of Fredericton Black Bears Wrestling Club, and recently placed second in the Canadian Wrestling Trials and fourth at the 2022 Pan American Wrestling Championships.

Canney is a para male swim athlete and member of the Fredericton Aquanauts Swim Team.

He is a three-time medalist at the Canada Games, and a four-time medalist at the Special Olympic Winter Games.

The 2022 Canada Summer Games were initially scheduled to take place in August 2021, but were postponed due to the pandemic, and will feature competition in 18 sports involving more than 5,000 athletes, coaches and managers over 16 days.
