City of Castelgar and CUPE Employees Agree to Tentative Contract

The City of Castlegar says has it has reached a tentative contract agreement with unionized workers.

Officials say the deal was struck during bargaining on Tues.

The membership of CUPE Local 2262 had voted 95% in favour of taking job action in a strike vote conducted three weeks ago.

The union indicated the vote was called after the city walked away from the bargaining table,.

Union officials say the municipality’s bargaining team declared an impasse after three days of talks in June.

According to the city, the union will present the new deal to its 45 members on Thurs.
