The COVID-19 infection rate in BC has leaped to 536, a figure not seen since mid-May.

Of the new cases, 258 are listed for Interior Health.

The Ministry of Health says more than half of the over 3500 active cases BC-wide are within the Interior Health Authority, and new health restrictions are still in place for the Central Okanagan region.

The latest local COVID-19 numbers are also out from the BC Centre for Disease Control, spanning between August 1st and August 7th.

Seventy-four new cases are listed for Nelson, 30 for Castlegar, 17 for Creston, 11 for Arrow Lakes, 10 for Trail and four in Grand Forks.

A COVID-19 outbreak remains at Nelson's Jubilee Manor with one resident and three staff infected, as well as one death in relation to the outbreak.

The City of Nelson says a positive case has been reported at the Nelson and District Youth Centre as someone who tested positive attended a day camp on Friday, August 6th.

Families potentially exposed have been contacted by Youth Centre management and the facility has since undergone extensive cleaning.

Lastly, Interior Health is issuing yet another Heat Warning for the region with temperatures on the rise.
