Rossland and Warfield Set to Share Bylaw Enforcement Services

The City of Rossland is entering an agreement with the Village of Warfield to provide general Bylaw Enforcement Services. The Bounce Radio Newsroom caught up with Mayor Kathy Moore following the October 4th Regular Meeting:

“We’ve talked about this for quite some time about having collaborative services with some of our local municipalities and this is just natural one….” she says.

“Our communities are so close together. We have really similar kinds of bylaw infractions and feel like we can help Warfield out with our Bylaw Officer, who is great; we just hired him.”

The idea had initially been advanced in 2017 but ended up with the City and Village having different contracts with the same contractor. Discussions then resumed late last year.

“There’s probably about ten hours a week that our Bylaw Officer would work in Warfield but that’s subject to our needs as well. You know, if there’s [sic] some big issues going on in Rossland then they’ll have to attend to that first.” adds Mayor Moore.

Work entails general bylaw enforcement activities plus education, awareness and support of provincial COVID-19 measures.
