Rossland Freedom of the City Policy Prevails

Rossland City Council re-assessed the need for their Freedom of the City Policy at a Regular Meeting earlier this month, July 12th.

City staff was directed to explore the feasibility of rescinding the Policy back in June as some councillors found the policy to be archaic and out-dated, but a four-to-three motion this month saw the policy prevail.

Mayor Kathy Moore tells the Bounce Radio Newsroom that the Freedom of the City Policy has only been used once, for Champion Alpine Skier Nancy Greene Raine back in 1967.

She adds that you’ll never know when another home-town-hero worthy of being recognized will come along, so for now the Policy will be waiting for that special someone.
