Amy's Adventures With: Award Season

oscars

I can’t get in to award season. I never could. It’s the same thing over and over again. The same movies win, the same actors win and there’s always some sort of controversy.

There’s  reports that Netflix spent $100 million to promote "The Irishman" and "Marriage Story" before the Oscars

Long story short, I think it’s such a waste of money. In a time where there’s such a divide between rich and poor and money could be going to much better things, it’s spent on the wealthiest people.

Let’s talk about the swag bags at this year’s Oscars. This year's "free" swag is valued at $225,000! Yup, you read that right! Not only were they paid millions to be in a movie and dressed by the best but everyone will walk away with a bag of goodies valued at 225,000! So what’s in the bag?.

The package includes:  "Hydrogen-infused" water ($29.99 a pouch) posh amethyst bath bombs ($75) . . . a $150 gold-plated cannabis vape pen a "brainwave-sensing meditation headband" ($250) . . . and up to $25,000 worth of cosmetic and rejuvenation procedures such as lip fillers and chemical peels. Oh good, more lip fillers in Hollywood so everyone can look the same!

There are vouchers for a 12-day cruise on a yacht with butler service, two helicopters, and a spa.  It's valued at $78,190, with destinations that include Antarctica and the Mediterranean.

Other gifts include:  A romantic getaway in a Spanish lighthouse . . . a year's membership to a luxury dating service . . . and, a "medical urine collection system that claims to improve the accuracy of testing for infections.

All these things they could easily afford, they are getting for free. Some people may say I’m just jealous and while I wish I could go on vacation 7 times a year, I just think it’s all pointless and a complete waste of  money and time. This money should be put towards helping others or cleaning the oceans or hell, cleaning drinking water.

It’s just a shame we focus so much energy on things that don’t matter and things that need focus and attention are overshadowed and forgotten!
