#SnowPatrol @ The Downtown Dartmouth Ice Festival
What’s up guys, it’s Jenna and Jenna, your C100 #SnowPatrol! If you read our last blog, you’d know we went to TONS of fun events this past weekend but needed to discuss a little more about a certain specific one. The Downtown Dartmouth Ice Festival presented by East Coast Credit Union was on all weekend long with SO many fun events. Everything was FREE from wagon rides, live music and bouncy castles, to hot chocolate and live ice sculpturing!
We arrived Saturday and all of Portland Street was blocked off FULL of people in awe over the ice sculptures! There were so many talented carvings and the detail and time put into them was crazyyyy good. We even got to see an artist sculpting in action and the amount of equipment put into these things is wild. If you have the chance to see them before they melt, check them ALL out – you won’t regret it.
We saw a huge crowd at the top of where all the action on the street was and walked over to find a campfire and hot chocolate! We grabbed some roasting sticks and marshmallows and sat down with everyone on the hay bales and felt like it was summer again (we prefer the snow thoughhh). We balloted for our huge Family Fun Weekend Package from Hotel Halifax which includes a $50 gift card to G-Street Pizza and a family day pass to the Zatzman Sporstplex, so if you see us make sure to drop your name in so you can have a chance to win!!!
We couldn’t get enough of the winter activities so we headed to the Zatzman Sportsplex and laced up to skate laps with our favourite ice princess sisters – Elsa and Anna! Of course we couldn’t pass up even more free hot chocolate so we grabbed a cup before heading onto the ice. There were SO many families with the biggest Frozen fans and we loved seeing how excited they were to meet them (we may have been a little excited too…)!
There were so many events happening that we didn’t have enough time to get to them all Saturday so we drove back in our 2020 Tucson from Steele Hyundai for another fun filled day! We got to see the final product of the sculpture we saw in progress the day before and it was sooo cute! The artist was from New Brunswick so he sculpted a fiddle head with a super detailed butterfly on top! There were even more sculptures done after we left and found THE cutest Frosty sculpture perfect for selfies (dog friendly too)!!!
We didn’t get to the indoor bounce zone the day before so we checked that out and saw our fav princesses again taking lots of pictures with even more adorable fans! We were not expecting the huge bounce castles but the Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission pulled through with only the best!! We raced down the big igloo and we’ll leave you to guess who won…
We had a BLAST at this event and were so happy we could see it all for ourselves and hope you did too! Our pictures definitely don’t do these sculptures justice so make sure to check them out for yourself on Portland Street before they melt!!!
