Bathurst vice principal named Deputy Minister of Education for Anglophone sector

A Bathurst educator is putting his experience to work for the provincial government.

Bathurst High School vice principal George Daley has been named Deputy Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development for the Anglophone sector.

The move is one of several senior staff changes announced by Premier Blaine Higgs on Thursday.

Higgs says the staffing changes result in a strong team of senior public servants to supprt ministers so they can continue to focus on the province's priorities and drive results

Daley was recently president of the New Brunswick Teachers’ Association and co-president of the New Brunswick Teachers’ Federation.

He replaces John McLaughlin who is set to retire effective December 31st following 30 years in the civil service.

McLaughlin will remain as special advisor to the department until that time.
