This year, over 6,000 Vancouver Island residents will be diagnosed with cancer. The most common in men is prostate cancer.
We can help. However, it will take team work. It will take a coalition. Local grocers on Vancouver Island have united to form the Future Cures Coalition to raise $500,000 for PSMA-PET, an innovative diagnostic technology at BC Cancer – Victoria that will change prostate cancer outcomes in the community and beyond. This unique campaign will run September 8-November 8, 2021 and includes: Tru Value, Thrifty Foods, Country Grocer and Quality Foods. For a limited time Thrifty Foods will match all donations up to $125,000! Look for participating stores in your community.
From September 15 – 29, hike or walk in honour of your loved ones and help support of end-of-life care.
Walk or hike in your neighbourhood or on your favourite trail or join us for the physically distanced version of this meaningful event starting at the Community Support Center (dependent on public health orders).
Funds raised through Hike for Hospice helps provide care and comfort for patients, as well as support for their families through bereavement counselling out of our Community Support Centre.
You could also win big by checking out the Hike for Hospice 50/50 raffle online!
Together we are bigger than cancer
Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock 2021 is an exciting annual event where law enforcement and emergency services personnel cycle across Vancouver Island raising money for childhood cancer research and support services at the Canadian Cancer Society.
While our Cops for Cancer Tours will look and feel different this year, our commitment to the childhood cancer cause has not changed. As we continue to confront the impact of COVID-19, we remain determined to improve the cancer experience by ensuring children with cancer live longer and have the best possible quality of life during the pandemic and beyond.
Why? Because the impact of cancer on the life of a child and their family is devastating. Donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society through Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock are used to fund life-saving pediatric cancer research and caring support programs like Camp Goodtimes to reduce its impact.
Donate today, support a rider, host an event or participate in a community event to help us pedal our way to end childhood cancer!

McHappy Day is Wednesday, September 22nd. This year, every purchase across the full McDonald’s menu supports families with sick children and local children’s charities. On McHappy Day, a portion of the proceeds from every menu item sold all day long goes to RMHC and other children’s charities across Canada to raise money for children in need. Since its inception in 1977, McHappy Day, along with the every day support of Canadians at McDonald’s, has helped RMHC support more than 425,000 families across Canada, giving them a place to stay together when they have to travel for their sick child’s treatment. The impact of Ronald McDonald House Charities across our communities is far-reaching. Today, 1 in 4 Canadians has either stayed at RMHC or know someone who has. Don’t forget – while you’re at McDonald’s, you can ask to round-up your order and the difference will be donated to RMHC in your community! Can’t get to a McDonald’s restaurant? You can still donate to RMHC by visiting: rmhc.ca to make a direct donation. Annually, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) supports more than 26,000 families while their child is healing in a hospital nearby
